This flat wire guide rod is only compatible with a flat wire recoil spring.

FAQ:
Is the flat wire spring compatible with a full length guide rod?
Yes-Only with the full length flat wire guide rod (#25GRFW).
The inner diameter of the flat wire spring is smaller than a conventional round wire spring requiring a flat wire specific guide rod.
Is a Shok Buff required?
A Shok-Buff is included but optional on the 5” flatwire guide rod.
It is not recommended for use on the 4” kit since it can reduce slide travel.
Can I shoot +P ammunition with this kit?
Yes-since flat wire springs don’t lose their length over time like round wire springs they cushion your frame more effectively over time.
Flat wire springs also compress in a more linear fashion which makes them more tolerant of a wider variety of loads and grips.

"Put this in my 9mm SA Garrison. Much better reliability now and cycles great. Was having occasional issues with FTF or not going completely into battery. Gun seems very mag picky anyways. Tried this new 13# spring with 3 different mags with random ammo of FMJ and hollow point. 100% no issues with about 150 rounds so far. Just seems to cycle better/faster and super low recoil. Love it. Much more confident in the gun’s reliability now. (I did not use the shock buff)"

"I recently ordered one of these for my Springfield Armory Range Officer 9mm. I felt that the original factory supplied spring was a little light 9-10 lbs.. I noticed that the recoil buffer had a fairly substantial indentation, after 200 rounds. I was shooting a mixed bag of ammo, which I had accumulated over many years, some of it +P and +P+. After replacing the factory spring with the 13lb spring kit and firing another 200 rounds I found that there was only a small mark on the recoil buffer. The gun did seem to cycle smoother and ejected cases with fail. As for recoil, well it is almost none existent in a full size all steel 9mm. If you have never shot one, you owe it to your self. But be forwarded it is addictive!"
