Our quarter inch guide rod kit allows the use of a flat wire recoil spring on a full length gun.
The provided spring plug is for a thick flange or carry bevel bushing.
The flat wire spring is an upgrade over the standard round wire spring because it is more durable and will last longer.
This Kit Includes:
- 5 inch quarter guide rod
- 20lb recoil spring
- Long-nose spring plug with a .257 hole bored in the center
All kits are drop-in.
In independent testing, ISMI spring have endured in excess of 100,000 compression cycles.
We don’t recommend going that long between changes however.
With an ISMI spring, practice routine maintenance and change it once a year.

Put the parts in the slide and barrel then the bushing,then guide rod,then spring,then recoil spring cap, then put the gun together under tension insert the slide stop . Then rack the slide. No problem. Results in a perfect fit."
