Installation & Overview:
Upgrade your 1911 or Novak-cut pistol with a low-profile red dot mounting solution from EGW.
This dovetail-mounted optic plate replaces the factory rear sight and allows you to directly mount popular red dot optics without permanent slide machining.
Designed around the Docter footprint, this mount supports optics like the Vortex Venom (open emitter), Vortex Viper, Burris FastFire series, and other compatible red dots.
The direct mount design keeps the optic lower than many Picatinny rail adapter setups for improved presentation and a cleaner overall appearance.
Machined in the USA from high-strength 7075 aluminum and finished in matte black hardcoat anodizing, this mount is built for durability while maintaining a lightweight footprint suitable for carry guns, competition pistols, and range builds.
Our mounts are designed to install from left to right with the muzzle facing forward.
The dovetail features a progressive taper to allow for easier installation and proper fitment.
Due to manufacturing tolerances between firearms, minor fitting may be required.
Important: Some manufacturers use licensed Novak-style rear sights that are not true Novak cuts.
This mount is designed for genuine Novak dovetails only and will not fit all licensed Novak applications.
Installation Notes:
- Remove the factory rear sight
- Install the mount in the dovetail
- Tighten the set screw
- Install optic
- Apply blue Loctite
- Torque mounting screws to 15 in/lbs
Fitment Notes:
Minor modification to the sight base may be necessary for some 1911s including Rock Island, Citadel, and GSG 1911 .22 models.
Due to manufacturing tolerances between firearms, minor fitting may be required.
Please note that some manufacturers use licensed Novak-style cuts that differ from genuine Novak specifications.
This mount will not fit all licensed Novak applications.
