The EGW Premium Officer's Mainspring Housing and Magwell Combo combines a fully machined 25 LPI mainspring housing with a matching stainless steel magwell designed for Officer's Model 1911s and Colt Defender pistols.
Both components are machined from stainless steel bar stock and held to tight tolerances.
The mainspring housing incorporates a precision T-slot that accepts the magwell, creating a solid mechanical connection between the two components.
The fit between the mainspring housing and magwell is intentionally tight.
In some cases, the magwell may require a light tap with a non-marring hammer to fully seat into the T-slot.
The mainspring housing itself is also manufactured slightly oversized in width.
This gives the installer material to work with when fitting the housing closely to the individual frame and helps eliminate unwanted wobble or play once installation is complete.
The rear face features 25 LPI checkering for positive grip traction, while the stainless steel receives a clean glass-beaded finish.
Pins, springs, and internal mainspring housing components are not included.
Compatible parts from your original mainspring housing may be reused or replaced with new Officer-size components
Precision T-Slot Magwell System:
The EGW mainspring housing is machined with a T-slot that accepts the matching magwell.
This design mechanically locks the magwell to the mainspring housing and helps prevent the movement or shifting that can occur with looser-fitting assemblies.
The fit between the two pieces is intentionally very tight.
Depending on the individual components, a light tap with a non-marring hammer may be required to fully seat the magwell.
T-SLOT FIT IS INTENTIONALLY TIGHT!
The magwell is not designed to slide loosely into the mainspring housing.
A tight T-slot fit helps create a solid connection between the two parts and minimizes unwanted movement after assembly.
Slightly Oversized for a Tight Frame Fit!
The width of the mainspring housing is intentionally manufactured slightly oversized.
This allows the installer to fit the housing closely to the individual frame rather than accepting a loose fit.
Once properly fitted, the housing and magwell can sit solidly in the pistol with minimal wobble or play.
Because 1911 frame dimensions can vary between manufacturers and individual pistols, fitting may be required.
Installation and Fitment:
This mainspring housing and magwell combination is intentionally machined for a close fit and should not be expected to fall freely into every frame.
The mainspring housing is slightly oversized so it can be fitted to the individual frame, and the T-slot connection between the housing and magwell is intentionally snug.
Minor fitting should be expected depending on the dimensions of the individual Officer-size frame or Colt Defender.
